Arrival to Zambia

 Hello WEBSTER CLAN!

It was very fun to get our new missionaries yesterday, and Sister Webster was just great! We love seeing the mission grow little by little. We are growing with all the influx of missionaries and it sure is helping the work move along.

I have attached 2 pictures of Sister Webster and her MTC group, along with her and President and Sister Padovich.

She will be starting her mission right here in Lusaka in an area called Munali. A very good branch, she will love her time her. Her trainer is Sister Makau from Kenya, who is very calm and relaxed so I think they will mesh very well.

Thank you for supporting her in her service of our Lord and Savior. May the Lord bless your family as you continue to support her throughout her mission.

Service

The missionaries are allowed to give 30 minutes of service while they are in the MTC. Some of the Sisters bagges laundry soap for the next group. some washed the MTC Van, and the Elders did the sweeping of the many leaves that are falling....since in South Africa, we are in Fall...headed for winter. Fun with the Elders.

GRANDILLAS - AFRICAN FRUIT

In South Africa, there are many wonderful fruits. One is the Granadilla. We have granadilla juice at the MTC....complete with little black seeds. Last night I brought several granadilla to show the Americans. The Africans already know the fruit and were able to show the Americans how to eat it. It is a good fruit, if you can get past eating the seeds. Everyone had a taste and there were positive comments. Sister Janet Reber South Africa MTC

South Africa MTC

FINALLY AT THE MTC

This is Sister Reber, wife of the MTC President in South Africa. Your missionary arrived safely.

This is a very small group...only 11 missionaries. It is the first time in the history of the MTC that we have more Sisters than Elders. And only the third time the MTC has had 7 Sisters.

Our 4 Elders don't seem worried about it one bit. They have unpacked, had orientation, and are now asleep. Tomorrow starts the training in ernest.

The photos show the arrival of the missionaries and the Sisters in their rooms. It also shows the group at the orientation meeting. They are wonderful Elders and Sisters and great singers too!
President Reber and I are thankful they are here.

I definitely know now what it feels like to live a week at Badger Creak (Creek). I never knew how nice just brushing your teeth feels after you haven't done it for a few days. :) Hopefully showering will come sometime soon but probably not until tomorrow. Badger all the way!!!

It is wet here in Johannesburg but that I guess is normal for this time of the year. They are just finishing Summer and going into Winter which here in Johannesburg is hot and dry.

They gave me my third twinrix shot today which I thought was super weird cause really how much good can it do when there isn't the right amount of space between each shot? Whatever?? You go with the flow.

I am in a three-some. Sister Gehring from Texas and Sister Nyambita I think we haven't met yet, from Tanzania. I am the only one going to Zambia in my threesome

There are only 11 missionaries here at the SAMTC (South Africa Missionary Training Center) and there are more sisters than elders. Which they say is a record, so that is pretty cool. President and Sister Reber are super nice and easy to get along with. Out of the 11 of us missionaries, five are staying in Johannesburg and 5 are going to Zambia, and then there is an elder here that is going to London (visa problems or something else, not sure)

I got about an hour and a half sleep on the plane. I did watch three movies which was kind of nice, they were all Disney Movies so no worries. Lindsay one was Lion King, which made me even more excited to be in Africa.

We are going to the temple on Tuesday and will be able to email again on Thursday so I will tell you about it. There are a couple of sisters that have not been endowed yet so that will be pretty cool to experience.

School is almost out for BYU-I, right?? Congrats to all that are finishing up and graduating. Been there! Done that! Oh so exciting but oh so overwhelming as well. Happy Birthday to any that has a birthday this week.

Thanks for the support!!! The plane ride was definitely an adventure, but oh so a blessing in disguise.

Humpty Dumpty

This was used in a talk today in Sacrament Meeting. With it being Easter, the talks were on Jesus Christ and His love and Atonement for all of us. Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall Humpty Dumpty had a great fall All the King's horses and all the King's men Helped to put Humpty together again And then, Humpty got up and looked good as new His shell was all shiny and he thought, ah .... whew! But then .... he did realize that something was amiss His outsides were fine, but his insides were all mixed All scrambled, all churned, like an omelet he felt So he began to plead to all the King's helps But they all declined with their heads bowed down low, "We haven't what it takes to heal such a blow, To be honest, we have been in the same state as you" And there's nothing more that any of Us can do. "In fact, there is no one that can fix this great sting, Except the man known as Christ, we cal Him our King, So get on your knees, He's waiting for you Just as He's waited, for all of us too." "And Yes, there are some things of you He'll require, Your heart and your soul, and all your desires. You see, we have learned this, and so the past years we've been Known as the King's horses, and as the King's men." I know that my Savior is Jesus Christ and that no matter where I go He will be there beside me. Easter means new life and with the Savior in our lives each day we can be a new and better person.
